Pressure Tank Science Selection Guide
Nov 15, 2025
I. Core Assumptions: Identify 3 Major Working Condition Parameters
Precise parameters are the foundation of, avoiding safety risks or resource waste due to parameter deviations.
• Pressure Parameters: ① Confirm the maximum working pressure; ② Design pressure needs to leave a 1%-20% safety margin (following GB150 standard), and is divided by grade: low pressure (0.1-1.6MPa), pressure (1.6-10MPa), high pressure (≥10MPa).
• Temperature Parameters: Clarify the working temperature range (e.g, -162℃ for LNG tanks, 200℃ for high-temperature steam tanks), which directly affects material and sealing selection.
• Volume: Calculate based on "daily usage × reserve days × 1.2 (fluctuation coefficient)", and adapt to the space of the installation site.
II. Key: Analyze the 3 Core Properties of the Medium
The medium's properties determine the material, sealing, and safety configuration, and are the key basis for selection.
Corrosiveness: Select carbon steel for weak corrosion (compressed air); select stainless steel (304/316L) for medium to strong corrosion (acid andali); select special alloys for strong corrosion.
• Flammability and Explosiveness: Select welding sealed structure explosion-proof accessories for flammable media (L, LPG); give priority to spherical tanks for high-pressure flammable (hydrogen).
• Physical State: Leave a 20% gas phase space forefied gases; high viscosity media need to be equipped with a heating jacket stirring device.
III. Structure Matching: 3 Mainstream Form Selection
Select based on, volume, and site conditions, taking into account stability and operability.
• Vertical Cylindrical: Small footprint, easy maintenance, suitable for low to medium pressure0.1-10MPa), medium to small volume (1-50m³), suitable for narrow spaces in the workshop.
• Horizontal Cindrical: Low center of gravity, easy to transport, suitable for low to medium pressure (0.1-6MPa), small volume (≤20m³, suitable for mobile or temporary outdoor scenarios.
• Spherical: Uniform stress, material-saving, suitable for medium to high pressure (1.6-100Pa), large capacity (≥100m³), suitable for chemical industry parks or natural gas reserve stations.
IV. Safety and Compliance: 2 Essential Points Protect
Pressure vessels are special equipment, and safety and compliance are non-negotiable.
• Safety Accessories: Must-have pressure gauge (accuracy ≥ .6 grade), safety valve (action pressure ≤ design pressure); add level gauge for liquefied tanks, and emergency shut-off valve for flammable tanks.
• Compliance Requirements: Select manufacturers with a "Special Equipment Manufacturing License," products with quality certificates and inspection certificates; need to apply for a use registration certificate and periodic inspection in the stage.
